Monstera adansonii, the Adanson's monstera, Swiss cheese plant, or five holes plant, is a species of flowering plant known for its beautiful, heart-shaped leaves. The leaves have a somewhat thick, waxy texture, and contain large, oval-shaped perforations, which led to its common name of "Swiss cheese plant". It grows to be 3–5 feet tall as a houseplant, and up to 13 feet as a vine. This easy to care for houseplant that likes bright, indirect sunlight, and well draining soil.
Monstera adansonii can live in water indefinitely if conditions are right and water is changed every 1–2 weeks to keep it fresh and oxygenated. Ensure roots are fully submerged but the base of the stem isn’t sitting too deep in water to prevent rot. Check for slimy or unhealthy roots during water changes and trim as needed.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS: Monstera adansonii thrives in bright, indirect light but can tolerate lower light levels. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry, and ensure the pot has proper drainage to avoid root rot. This tropical plant loves humidity, so mist its leaves regularly or place it near a humidifier, keeping temperatures between 18–27°C. Use a well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter and feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Prune occasionally to remove yellowing leaves and encourage growth. It can climb or trail, so provide a moss pole or let it cascade for a beautiful display.
